Books, Short Stories, and Articles
Non-fiction writing taught me discipline, patience, organization, clear and simple expression, and the ways of publishers—all of which are also required in a well written novel. But writing novels adds the thrill of creating people and events in the world of imagination. That said, in my mind, it often seems less a conscious composition than placing my characters in situations, then watching and writing down what I perceive them saying and doing.
A hallmark of my fiction is credibility—feasible events and characters facing challenges that could actually happen.

Thank Ye, Mister Sun
Thank Ye, Mister Sun is a historical novel telling the story of Ronson Allen, a youth from a poor family in Depression-era Appalachia, challenged by an assault on his beloved sister. When his family hesitates to act for fear of losing employment, he takes it upon himself to seek justice. His initial childish fantasies evolve toward a practical solution while he faces fear, insecurity, and danger in his quest. Along the way, the reader meets memorable characters, experiences droll situations unique to Appalachia, and sees history and politics through the eyes of locals, all totally authentic. There are moments of humor and moments of pathos as Ronson struggles to take adult responsibility, find the culprits, and exact justice.
Thank Ye, Mister Sun was published by Konstellation Press in March 2025. It is available in paperback print or online through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and several other book sellers.
